Recovery Council - advent 619 reissue

I am excited to announce a re-issue of Rebeca's solo cd from 2003.

Under the moniker Recovery Council, Rebeca wrote and recorded this cd while working on her master's degree in Information Systems. Coincidentally, her thesis was based on co-ordinating imaging software with a automated camera. It is not surprising that this disc is heavily laiden with endearing images of robotics and engineering, like the cover which pictures a little girl tweaking her cyborg subject. This disc conjures the imagination with a dreamy soundscape, punctuated by driving guitars, big virutuoso-esque keyboards, and elaborate beat programming. As co-producer, I did very little to really make this cd happen, but I couldn't be prouder of any work that has come out of the Genetic Kettle Studios or The Bionic Milk Plant label.

On advent 619, Rebeca sings, plays acoustic and electric guitars, softsynths, Moog Minimoog, percussion and drum machines, Marpac Marsona, baby toys, and circuit bent electronics. She is currently working on ooodles of new material for a variety of projects, and possibly a follow up to this disc.

Long time no.... blog?

Okay, it has been a while since we put the bionic milk plant blog together, and we sadly have not had much to type about. Until now that is!!!! Well, we've probably had some things to blog about, just not as much as we do now. The flood gates have opened....

- Rebeca has been working with a yet unnamed band in which she is singing and writing lots of kooky lyrics about disorders and stuff. I have heard recordings of their practice sessions and they sound great! I think her vocals are sounding better than ever. I'm excited to hear an album's worth of material, which I hear will land around spring 2010.

- Rebeca is also playing bass and keyboards with the Bella Coola Sound, backing up Gina Morresi, a twangy-rock solo artist who is getting ready to put out her first cd. They have a show booked to celebrate the release at Black Bird Studios in Parsippany on Friday December 4th.

- Hobart Gutt and Dottie Buckett are still working on their liquored up debut country epic, "Loans, Jewelry, Guns, & Luggage." Without a doubt, this will be released in 2010. I promise!!! The wait will soon be over!!!

- In huge news for me, I am working again with my good friends, Matt Dixon, David Douglas, and Ryan Frame on a full-out Vertigoround reunion. As part of it, we have decided to remaster the best of the Vertigoround catalog, put together a cd of new music, and try to play some shows. We're at the infancy of this journey, and we are targeting January 1, 2012 to have it all finished.... which just happens to be 20 years to the day that Matt and I agreed to try to put together a band. It has been very cool going through all the old tapes so far, and the new music is starting to flow. I am so excited to see how this all comes together.

- And the biggest bionic milk news we have right now is the Recovery Council - advent 619 reissue. Yes, we were out of stock of Rebeca's first solo album so are reissuing the cd with some improvements. The first edition had homebrew packaging, which was nice and good for the time. This edition is professionally pressed and just looks and sounds great. We will be restocking cdbaby this week for a release in the next week or two.

The bionic milk plant lives!!! Stay posted for updates in the coming weeks.
