The Brown Low-Down
Hello United Milkworkers!!! It is amazing how much is going on in our world when on the surface it might seem like absolutely nothing is happening.
Rebeca is hard at it with her various musicstuffs. In fact, you can see Rebeca live with Gina Morresi on Monday April 26 at The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ at 8, opening for Backyard Tire Fire. You absolutely must check it out if you are in the area. BTW.. here is a picture from their last gig in New York City back in March.
I know I've mentioned it before on this blog, but Matt Dixon and I have decided to put together a 20 year reunion of our band Vertigoround. By the end of next year, we're looking at a mammoth project to remaster a bunch of our old tapes, write and record some new stuff, and even play a few shows. Things are coming along well, and I am so excited to see our new songs materialize. Stay tuned!!!
So why not stay totally abreast of all our goings-ons, any time of day, with all the painstaking minutia that only tweets can bring. You can follow my Twitter account @bionicmilk and Rebeca's @pixeldonut.
I was thinking the other day about how long it has been since I have
released any new music. In fact, last week marked 10 years since the release of "Lunar Modular Unit" from my weirdo-nerdy brown25 persona. Way back in 2000, Lunar Modular Unit made rotations at over 100 college and web radio stations and some nice review like this one from ACE Weekly in Lexington, KY. It also afforded me a sizeable grant from Jim Beam's BEAM (Benefiting Emerging Artists in Music) program and an invitation to play at NXNW. Neverthe
less, to commemorate the anniversary, I am releasing a free download-only song called "Burning, Itching, Swelling". This song was written and even partially recorded around the 2002-2003 time frame. In the last couple weeks, I took the old skeleton and added vocals, moog, and enough new weird to make it textbook brown25. You can download it now at my myspace page HERE. Please drop me a line and let me know what you think!!!

Recovery Council - advent 619 reissue
I am excited to announce a re-issue of Rebeca's solo cd from 2003.
Under the moniker Recovery Council, Rebeca wrote and recorded this cd while working on her master's degree in Information Systems. Coincidentally, her thesis was based on co-ordinating imaging software with a automated camera. It is not surprising that this disc is heavily laiden with endearing images of robotics and engineering, like the cover which pictures a little girl tweaking her cyborg subject. This disc conjures the imagination with a dreamy soundscape, punctuated by driving guitars, big virutuoso-esque keyboards, and elaborate beat programming. As co-producer, I did very little to really make this cd happen, but I couldn't be prouder of any work that has come out of the Genetic Kettle Studios or The Bionic Milk Plant label.

She is currently working on ooodles of new material for a variety of projects, and possibly a follow up to this disc.

Long time no.... blog?
Okay, it has been a while since we put the bionic milk plant blog together, and we sadly have not had much to type about. Until now that is!!!! Well, we've probably had some things to blog about, just not as much as we do now. The flood gates have opened....

- Rebeca has been working with a yet unnamed band in which she is singing and writing lots of kooky lyrics about disorders and stuff. I have heard recordings of their practice sessions and they sound great! I think her vocals are sounding better than ever. I'm excited to hear an album's worth of material, which I hear will land around spring 2010.
- Rebeca is also playing bass and keyboards with the Bella Coola Sound, backing up Gina Morresi, a twangy-rock solo artist who is getting ready to put out her first cd. They have a show booked to celebrate the release at Black Bird Studios in Parsippany on Friday December 4th.
- Hobart Gutt and Dottie Buckett are still working on their liquored up debut country epic, "Loans, Jewelry, Guns, & Luggage." Without a doubt, this will be released in 2010. I promise!!! The wait will soon be over!!!
- In huge news for me, I am working again with my good friends, Matt Dixon, David Douglas, and Ryan Frame on a full-out Vertigoround reunion. As part of it, we have decided to remaster the best of the Vertigoround catalog, put together a cd of new music, and try to play some shows. We're at the infancy of this journey, and we are targeting January 1, 2012 to have it all finished.... which just happens to be 20 years to the day that Matt and I agreed to try to put together a band. It has been very cool going through all the old tapes so far, and the new music is starting to flow. I am so excited to see how this all comes together.

- And the biggest bionic milk news we have right now is the Recovery Council - advent 619 reissue. Yes, we were out of stock of Rebeca's first solo album so are reissuing the cd with some improvements. The first edition had homebrew packaging, which was nice and good for the time. This edition is professionally pressed and just looks and sounds great. We will be restocking cdbaby this week for a release in the next week or two.
The bionic milk plant lives!!! Stay posted for updates in the coming weeks.

RIP bionicmilk.com
It's official... bionicmilk.com is going away. Finally closing up shop makes me a bit nostalgic about those days, so I have included some crusty old pictures. Yeah, I looked like a freak. Anyway, bionicmilk.com was the internet home of our record label,The Bionic Milk Plant over the last 10 years. Our last release was in 2003, but we've still tried to keep the site alive. Unfortunately, without updates or releases, the site itself was not worth holding on to. But wait a second, that doesn't mean that there won't be any more music!!!! We have a bunch of projects, songs, recordings, and ideas. We simply love music and continue to write and record sporadically. In absence of our 'official site' we have created an official blog to post any new tunes, news, happenings, and just stuff about music. We hope you enjoy!1998-1999 Recording and Launch of s/t brown25
